Enterprise Air launches v1.0 of its MobileEdge mobile application infrastructure.

NEW YORK, NY - February 8, 2002 - Enterprise Air, a provider of mobile solutions, announced today that it has released MobileEdge™ V1.0, its patent pending end-to-end solution that extends enterprise applications rapidly to any Palm OS and PocketPC device. MobileEdge is the first wireless solution that allows applications to be written entirely in XML. It supports rapid development and deployment of applications and works both online and offline. Additionally, the architecture seamlessly integrates with existing back-end systems and infrastructure, requiring no duplication of content.

MobileEdge 1.0 allows companies to extend mission critical applications rapidly and easily to any Palm OS and PocketPC device. The software allows users to query and transact upon application systems and databases from handheld computing devices. Applications are built without coding in C++ or Java, but rather XML is utilized to define the application logic and user interface resulting in applications that are easier and less expensive to build, maintain, and extend. The XML environment also provides a rich set of presentation, transaction, and transport features and functions. The architecture is extremely flexible and able to evolve with tomorrow’s technologies. The Company’s platform consists of enterprise-class server software and cross-platform handheld device software.

MobileEdge consists of the following components:

MobileEdge Client - ME Client is a cross-platform runtime system that manages device security, auto-installs and upgrades applications, manages user interfaces, validates input, controls application logic, and handles data storage and synchronization.

MobileEdge Server - ME Server manages message requests from devices, manages transactions, controls interfaces to back-end enterprise applications and databases, manages security, and controls application versions.

MobileEdge Development Tools - Enterprise Air provides a suite of tools and open APIs that allow companies to leverage existing application and infrastructure investments including pre-packaged applications, customer application interfaces, databases, XML or HTML content/services, LDAP/Active Directory instances, and third party authentication/authorization frameworks.
