USDA deploys Enterprise Air's Physical Security Interconnect system

FORT COLLINS, COLORADO - August 31, 2006 -
The United States Department of Agriculture has recently deployed Enterprise Air's Physical Security Interconnect solution, using it to connect the central identity management system (IDMS), which issue ID cards to USDA employees and contractors, to the on-site physical access control systems (PACS) that control electronic gates and doors at USDA facilities nationwide. Enterprise Air's Physical Security Interconnect (PSI) platform is a technology solution for synchronizing any kind of data between central and local security systems - particularly systems that manage ID cards, and data about the cardholders that use them.

The deployment of Enterprise Air PSI, currently in trials, offers a way for USDA to automatically synchronize their centralized IDMS data with PACS systems at more than 500 agency buildings and locations around the country. Enterprise Air PSI extracts data records from USDA's IDMS system, which is based on Microsoft Active Directory, and transmits them to every PACS system, including personnel data, vital statistics, and card status and revocation information. With PSI, security guards at every facility can receive up-to-the-minute cardholder data and make security clearance decisions more securely. Most importantly, PSI ensures that when cards are lost or revoked, every PACS system receives an update immediately, so that anyone holding those cards is automatically denied access from every building.

"The USDA deployment is a very powerful illustration of our PSI technology," said Michael Hejtmanek, CEO of Enterprise Air. "With PSI, the USDA is able to take a time-intensive, error-prone data entry and configuration procedure, and make it completely reliable and automatic. A USDA security administrator can update someone's badge status with a single mouse-click, and that change will be respected immediately at every electronic door and gate throughout the agency. It's an incredible improvement to their security and a great way to reduce costs."

PSI was designed by Enterprise Air to be highly secure, fault-tolerant and compatible with the widest possible range of IDMS and PACS technologies. Enterprise Air has spent years partnering with top PACS vendors and maintains an extensive library of connectors to their PACS systems, across multiple versions.
